Shula started her professional career as a special education teacher. In 1977, upon moving to Dallas, her career path turned to real estate.

In 1980, Shula established Shula Netzer Real Estate Company: a brokerage and investment firm.

Today, her company manages a portfolio of thousands of acres of land and commercial buildings.
